At Tsoromokos and Papadopoulos, we proudly lead the way in helping members of the Greek Diaspora obtain Greek citizenship for themselves and their families, along with a broad range of other Greek Legal Services.
Our staff attorneys are uniquely licensed to practice law in both Greece and the United States, a distinctive credential that sets us apart from typical consulting services and most law firms in Greece or abroad, making us the preferred and trusted choice for clients around the world. Unlike others who may operate through satellite or virtual offices, our firm maintains established offices staffed by licensed attorneys. Our staff are not consultants — they are fully qualified attorneys licensed to practice law in both Greece and the United States. When you work with us, you receive direct legal counsel from experienced professionals, not intermediaries or representatives. Our commitment to transparency and accountability is reflected in every aspect of our practice..
Our firm successfully works on Greek Citizenship applications with all eight Greek consulates located in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tampa and the Greek Embassy located in Washington, D.C.
In a major legal advancement, our Greek Legal Services team played a key role in shaping the legal framework that resulted in a new Ministerial Order issued by the Greek Ministry of the Interior. After years of successfully working closely with Greek born adoptees to obtain their Greek citizenship, our efforts helped lead to the recognition of their right to be registered in the Greek registries as Greek citizens. This milestone decision has created a clear and legal path for many Greek-born adoptees who were previously excluded from the citizenship process. While obtaining Greek citizenship can often be an inherently complex procedure, our specialized Greek Legal Services team offers streamlined, strategic and efficient guidance and representation. We conduct a thorough legal analysis of each client’s personal circumstances to determine the most effective course of action, taking into account residency, lineage, and all pertinent legal criteria.
Citizenship by Descent or Birth:
If you were born in Greece or have Greek ancestry, including a parent, grandparent or great-grandparent, you may be eligible for Greek Citizenship by descent or birth. The path to eligibility can vary depending on several factors, including your birth date and your parents' citizenship status.
Marriage to a Greek Citizen:
Marriage to a Greek citizen can be a basis for obtaining Citizenship, but you may need to fulfill residency requirements in Greece as well as other criteria.
Investment and Financial Independence:
Some countries offer Citizenship through investment programs. While Greece has implemented investor visa programs, like the Greek Golden Visa program, these may not necessarily lead directly to Citizenship. You may need to go through a residency period before becoming eligible.
Naturalization:
Naturalization is a common but lengthier path to Greek Citizenship, which can be obtained by meeting the following criteria:
Special Categories:
Specific special categories, such as refugees and stateless persons, may have particular pathways to Citizenship.
